Enterprise Network - Responsible for all phases from development of initial prototype LAN to implementation of Wide Area Network supporting thousands of users. Assisted in staffing and training of clients personnel, selection and implementation of software and Hardware. Built custom application systems, installed and set up enterprise topology for ccMail and Lotus Notes.
Significant Accomplishments:
- Introduced Lotus Notes. Set up Distributed Notes environment.
- Designed and built "programmerless" Notes Enterprise data collection systems.
- Our group developed (in DOS) an "Executive Information System" providing upper management with a wide variety of "paperless" business and financial reports which were distributed over the Wide area Network using "Smart Mail" applications built with ccMail Significantly reduced cycle time of getting information into the hands of decision making executives.
- Replaced EIS system with a Lotus Notes based system which enhanced quality of information presented, reduced data preparation and maintenance costs - improved distribution reliability by utilizing Lotus Notes replication and significantly reduced new development costs.
- Built a wide area backbone of electronic mail systems within organization and with client's outside suppliers.
- Designed and built comprehensive Menuing system using Saber Menu language which improved computer user's productivity while greatly reducing training time and costs.
- Developed mechanisms for installing and maintaining a network based Windows environment .
- LAN/WAN environment and electronic communications aided in moving a large amount of back office operations to North Carolina while increasing span of control.

Reported directly to VP. General Manager. Responsible for the creation and design of new systems for this division which develops, sells and supports microcomputer "turnkey" systems for the automation of medical practices. Duties included Systems Design and Specification writing, Planning, Cost Estimating, Budget Preparation and management for department, Hardware evaluation and selection, operating systems, Languages, Network Software, Database. Vendor management and negotiations.
Significant Accomplishments:
- Rescued project that was one year behind schedule. System delivered to first users within four months - on time and under budget.
- Created automated testing procedures which allowed 400% increase in productivity of quality assurance group.
- Implemented computerized project management and scheduling system which increased productivity and accountability of programming department.
- Staffed, trained and organized product support group which supported product in over 100 medical offices within 8 months.

Managed staff of nine internal software specialists, two technical writers, and two field engineers. Responsible for all phases of product development including original research and design, program specifications, supervision of programmers, quality control and testing, documentation, packaging and installation. Software products developed under my leadership were "Jasper+" (Job Accounting systems for DOS, DOS/VSE, OS/VS1, CMS, MVS), "Libra Plus" (DOS/VSE Performance monitor), "Wizard" (DOS & OS report writer), "Consolog" (DOS/VSE Product).
Organized The Technical Services Group, a subsidiary specializing in systems programming consulting, CICS and operating system generation, data center organization consulting, capacity planning, performance measurement, and computer charge-back methodology.
Significant Accomplishments:
- Managed transfer of product to Computer Assosciates which marketed Jasper and Libra Plus systems world wide. Trained CA staff world-wide in marketing and support of products.
- Relocated system for major publishing client from New York to midwest converted from DOS/VSE to VM/CMS.
- Converted Major Hospital with three hundred terminal CICS Network from DOS on 148 to DOS/VSE on 4341. Project thought to be impossible due to a major antiquated COBOL system which IBM no longer supported and said could not be converted. Reduced unscheduled down time from 17% to 4%.
- Created automated system under ICCF which controlled all programming development and testing while maintaining full accountability and audit trails on all change control.
- Organized The Technical Services Group micro computer software development group - developed the Legal Accounting System a microcomputer turnkey system for management of law practices.

Duties included hardware and software selection, contract evaluation for top management, performance measurement, capacity planning, operating system generation and maintenance, operations support, operator training, training and support of application programmers.
